Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is a form of athletic therapy.  Often used for rehabilitation, it aids in the prevention of muscle atrophy which may occur after injury.  EMS uses electric impulses to stimulate muscles, causing them to contract.

Electrical muscle stimulation is used to re-educate muscles, increase blood circulation, increase range of motion and relax muscle spasms.

Athletes use EMS to tone and strengthen muscles.  In therapeutic applications it assists in preventing muscle atrophy and rehabilitation in partial or totally immobilized patients.

EMS is available through qualified Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists and Chiropractors.
