Thai Massage

Thai massage, also known as Thai yoga massage, is a healing modality developed by Buddhist monks in Thailand over 2500 years ago. Thai massage combines yoga-like stretching with massage along the pressure points of the body. The flow of energy is restored throughout the body as acupressure is applied on the body’s sen energy lines.

Thai massage is usually done on the floor on a padded mat or futon. No oil is applied and the client is dressed in comfortable clothing. The session begins with the client laying on his or her back while the therapist uses stretching techniques and gentle compression to relax the body. The practitioner uses his or her hands, knees, legs and feet to move the client through a series of yoga-like stretches. Joint mobilization, acupressure and muscle compression are also used during this deep, full-body treatment. A typical treatment lasts 60 minutes to 2 hours.

Thai massage is energizing and relaxing. Thai massage benefits include reduced stress, improved circulation, flexibility and range of motion as well as centering the mind and body.
