Neuro Developmental® Therapy (NDT)

Neurodevelopment Therapy (NDT) is used by to physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists in treating children and adults who have difficulty controlling their movement due to neurological issues such as head injury, stroke, and cerebral palsy.

Guided movements are used to assist in the correlation of input from the body’s receptors, such as tactile, vestibular and somatosensory.

The purpose of NDT is to treat patients with limited movements due to brain injury.  Treatment includes introducing repetitive movements that help form a pattern for motor performance.  The more the patient repeats the movements, the easier they become.

NDT trained therapists assess and treat a wide variety of neuro-motor problems.  NDT therapists work with patients, their families, physicians, and caregivers to develop an optimum treatment plan to ensure each patient can become as functional and independent as possible.
