Maureen Williams has been in practice since 1995 when she received her doctorate from Bastyr University. Before becoming a naturopathic doctor, she had an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and had worked with the urban homeless as a social worker. Her professional time is a balance of patient care, writing, and teaching. Focusing her energy in these three directions allows her to bring both a scientific mind and a compassionate heart to my work each day.

Maureen’s clinical practice began in Vermont where she saw patients for 13 years before immigrating with her family to Canada and living on Cortes Island for two years. She now lives in Victoria and sees her patients at Copper Mountain Clinic in James Bay and Matraea Centre in Duncan. The foundation of her practice is whole foods therapeutic nutrition, with the incorporation of herbal medicine, homeopathy, counseling, and hydrotherapy into therapeutic protocols. Maureen sees patients of all ages with all kinds of health issues, and has special interest and expertise in women’s health and bio-identical hormone therapy, healthy aging, cancer support, and senior’s healthcare.

Maureen has been writing regularly for Healthnotes Newswire since 1999, providing easy to read articles based on studies from the scientific literature encompassing the most current natural medicine research. She also contributes articles and newsletters for professional publications and writes health related articles for community publications.

Her teaching experience includes providing lectures and workshops for both professional and public audiences on a wide range of topics, particularly in the fields of clinical nutrition and herbal medicine. She has offered full-length courses through Camosun College and lead workshops regularly at University of Victoria and Royal Roads University.
