5 Element Acupuncture

Classical 5 Element Acupuncture derives from ancient Chinese medicine.  Chinese medicine recognizes “QI” as the energy in all living things. It controls the functions of all organs and systems in the body.

Ancient Chinese masters observed that QI moves in cycles eventually known as the five elements: fire, earth, metal water and wood.  These elements describe QI as it moves through seasons and lifetimes and day to day in nature and humans. Each element has a color, sound, odor and emotion that the 5 Element practitioner is trained to see.

Acupuncture points are located on energy pathways called meridians.  Using needles and moxabustion the practitioner directy effects the flow of QI.  Manipulation of the needles can draw or disperse energy as needed.  Patients report a sense of well being and relaxation as the QI is stimulated.
